Valentine's

Valentine's was fun this year, I'm lovin' having kids old enough to get excited over holidays!
(Who am I kidding, my kids get excited over anything.)

We don't do the whole romantic, focus on the two of us thing for Valentine's... we have an anniversary for that. The family I was a nanny for celebrated as a family & went out for a nice dinner (they considered me family so I got to go along.) I loved that idea & have adopted it into our family. We don't do gifts either, no expectations, & no disappointments... that's my kind of holiday!
What we do is make sugar cookies, & stain-glass window hearts (melted crayon shavings in between wax paper.) Pink heart shaped pancakes, a cheese fondue dinner, & a chocolate fondue dessert.... nothing says love like sharing a fondue pot with a 2-year-old! We read the hand written Valentine's we all wrote for each other, (thanks for the great idea Kristen!) & toasted to our family! I'd like to think the reason for the lack of pictures is because we enjoyed ourselves so much!

What a GREAT idea. We dont do gifts either, usually Andre and I go to dinner and then watch a movie at home. Really we watch movies at home most weekends and some weeknights so thats nothing new though. I love your idea about fondue. I LOVE FONDUE!!! I may have to steal it and the family valentines cards for next year. :)

Sounds fun. We do similar stuff - b/c I do NOT want to be trying to go out to eat with everyone else in the world. I'd rather be at home. Anthony and I exchange letters not presents and then starting feb 1st we put out amailbox for each family member(got them at the dollar spot from target last year) and for the 2 weeks leading up to valentine's we put little love notes and sweets in eachother's box. Valentine's morning we open them up. It is so fun and my kids get so into making the valentines.

We grew up with the same outlook on VDay. I loved it! My mom always had a Valentines basket for us and decorated our rooms. It was so fun. It was nice to have a day to show everyone how much you love and appreciate them. The pancakes are cute! Sydney would love that. This year they got little chinese food boxes (Valentines day themed of course) with candy and lots of fun prizes. I had fun making it for them. Josh and I still celebrate with each other, but we usually just do it a few days before or after. It's kind of fun to drag it out!
