Well that isn't exactly true, but it seems that the forces of nature are making this statement true this year! I was hoping for a day of love, a fun day filled with decorating the cookies we made yesterday, perhaps taking some to friends or Jeff's work. But things just didn't happen that way... Rather than Love it seemed more like war... battle after battle, these battles were against a 3-year-old.
This was a very trying day as a mom of a a very stubborn, determined child. My patience was being tested time & time again today, & there really wasn't much patience there to be testing in the first place. The highlight of the day was when the doorbell rang & it was a delivery of beautiful flowers for me & a bear & balloons for Hannah! I didn't care who they were from at the moment, I was just thrilled to know that someone had thought about me enough to make the arrangements for the delivery. I assumed they were from Jeff, but he tends to be a little too last minute & even though he knew I was having a bad day it still didn't seem like something he could pull off so late in the day. I was a little shocked when I saw they were from my dad. Jeff added to my happiness when he came home carrying flowers.
I know, they are just flowers, but they sure made my day!! I was actually happy for a moment that such a rough day happened to fall on Valentine's, because if it was any other day I wouldn't have had the bright spot!!
I wasn't able to pull off all the menu items I had planned for dinner, so we had the yummy steak & arugula pasta without the popovers or molten chocolate cake & it was still very tasty. Hannah & I even managed to call a truce for the evening to sit down & enjoy a nice dinner as a family complete with sparkling juice & many toasts to love & happiness.
I hope everyone was able to have at the very least a wonderful moment at some point today! And I hope even more that next year I will have a more loving & peaceful Valentine's Day. Despite the events of the day I really do love my little family more than words could express! I am so lucky to have a wonderful husband & the sweetest kids (on most days..hehe.)
In Hannah's defense she is still trying to catch up some much needed sleep after the wedding weekend (she got about 36 hours of sleep over 5 days... which she usually get about 60 hours) and she is getting her 2-year-old molars. So she is out of sorts, but that is hard to remember when she isn't being very sweet or kind.

Sydney is getting her 12 month molars so I feel your pain! You are telling me that teething lasts until 3???? Great. I'm happy your Dad hooked you up. Very sweet!
Hey, thanks for the comment. I am so glad that I am not the only one who had a rough day. I keep thinking I am going to eat better, but I swear every month has a holiday and gives me an excuse to bake. Those dang cookies. I really did myself in on Valentine's though. Hope you are doing well.
oh, I have to tell you, I was on my cousin's blog and there was a comment by Travis's wife. This world is so small.
