The Blessing of Viv

Today we blessed Vivien & what a day it was...

This little man woke up from his nap with a fever yesterday & still had it this morning. We decided we would all go to church, but I'd take him home after Sacrament meeting. Then he decided to vomit! So we starting talking about just blessing the baby here at the house, but he turned a corner & was running around playing. So we spent the next hour watching him & since he seemed fine we went back to the original plan & headed to church. (I know what you're thinking... I am against taking a sick kid out, especially to church. But Jeff's parents were in town for the blessing & I wasn't going to miss her blessing either.)
We did make it through Sacrament without incident, except for the part where the bishop didn't know we were going to bless Vivien today... but Jeff managed to inform him thanks to a torn coloring book page & a kind sacrament passing deacon doing a little middle school note passing. (I think Jeff was willing to just shrug it off, but I brought my sick toddler to church for this... so we were blessing her today at church!)

I did have to sneak out of the meeting early due to Viv's hunger, so I thought I'd feed her a little to hold her over. We did a quick removal of her bulky blessing dress before filling her belly. By the time I got her burped & ready to put back in her car seat to head home we had a poop explosion, & imagine my luck I didn't have a diaper or wipes (they'd been removed from the car the previous day for our river cruise.) Luckily Katrina came to my rescue (she is the mother of Evelyn, who is just one day younger than Viv.) with a diaper & I also snagged 2 or 3 wipes. I grabbed a couple paper towels one my way to the changing station. The poop-backed onesie (which was the whitest one I could find) was carefully removed, this turned Vivien's fussing into crying.. But this was a bigger mess than I had realized, & 3 wipes wasn't going to do the job. I had previously noticed a few travel packs of wipes on top of the changing station but felt a little guilty using them. I knew this once clean white high quality onesie had just become disposable, because there was no way I was going to try to get it home & then have to rinse & wash. So I did my best using the uncontaminated parts of the onesie... Vivien's crying is now screaming. (note to self, she doesn't like being naked, covered in poop & wiped down with cold wet objects!) She was still a bit of a mess, I then snagged some of the previously mentioned wipes. While holding her legs up to get one more wipe of her backside she began to pee, I quickly placed her bum down so it didn't run up her back. Poor Girl! We managed to make it home, naked baby & sick toddler in tow.

After dinner I put Viv back in her dress so we could take a few pictures.
I wasn't expecting much, I just wanted a few pictures to document the occasion...
I wanted a picture of me & my girls...
Is it just me or does it seem from pictures of Hannah that I need to put more fiber in our diets?!?
Time for the boys to join in on the fun... they were less than thrilled!
Dude, I know you're not asleep the other picture was taken 2 minutes ago!
The happy family!!
Oh, here is a better one. No?
Perhaps it should read: The Happy Mom & her victims?
We let the little people go, since they seemed to have had enough torture
(who know 2 minutes could be so painful!
I would rather take Hannah just standing there over her fake & forced smiles.

The Proud Parents
Please Note, this lovely couple isn't looking at each other longingly...
they are glaring at one another.

Oh, that's better... well half better. Jeff seems a little FORCED
Finally we come to 2 people, G & G Taylor, who are more than willing to smile & have their picture taken with Vivien!
,No matter how crazy a day can be, one things for sure... that baby is DELICIOUS!!
And don't try to tell me otherwise!!
P.S. The blessing was lovely, Jeff did a beautiful job. I was feeling a little frazzled at the time at the time...
but pulled out the recorder this evening & listened to it again.

P.P.S. All jokes aside, even though today was crazy it was good to spend this time with the Taylor's & I'm grateful that my kids have them as grandparents.

Well, it is what it is, very hard to get kids to look happy when they aren't. That Hannah is the girl with 1000 goofy faces

Oh my gosh what a day! Good thing Viv is your third, if she was your first you would probably have cried! But since its all probably happened before, you probably just had to laugh! LOL! Sigh...being a mom is so great :)

Oh my word! What a hectic day. As if it isn't stressful enough to get a baby through their blessing w/o crying, to have to deal with poop explosions, peeing, and a sick toddler...you're a brave woman! But the pics look excellent.

She is DARLING! Sounds like a stressful day - nothing like a little puke to rain on your parade!
