Sticky Situations...

See that empty spot on the 2nd shelf down... right in front of the Prego? That is where I placed the pitcher of orange juice after breakfast. My friend Milo is very independent... he very rarely asks for help, and on the off chance that he does, he doesn't wait long for you to find the time to help.

This morning I was sending some e-mails out for scouts, (Jeff and I are den leaders) after finishing up, I walk into the kitchen and notice a large puddle in the middle of the floor. I assume its water from Milo, (he has a thing for the water dispenser on the fridge,) and tell him that we don't dump water on the floor. As I round the corner I notice the empty juice pitcher on the little table and the puddle on it. I quickly realize the other puddle isn't water, it's juice! (Yes, sticky substance puddles!) To his credit, he did take a towel and attempt to sop it up.
I didn't think to take a picture of the mess until after the puddles were sopped up, and I opened the fridge and saw another one waiting for me...
(This picture really doesn't do his efforts justice!)
This is when the deep breathing began. I grabbed the camera to document another example of why I call him Trouble. The kids came in at this point and informed me that the floor was sticky... really?!? I took Milo and got him settled with some blocks next to Vivie.

Do you know how sticky orange juice is? Well I think I went over the mess about 6 times with a rag (rinsing really well in between) and then mopped it another 3 or 4 times. While I mopped I thought I'd post a little public service announcement about the stickiness of o.j. Before I could finish cleaning up this mess Milo began whining, which turned to crying and quickly escalated to screaming. I imagined Vivien ruining a big tower of blocks he had made or perhaps holding him in a headlock.
.I came around the corner and noticed him holding his neck, I asked if Viv had grabbed him, but couldn't understand him through the tears.
Upon closer inspection I realized it was gum!
It seems that he had stretched the gum into a nice long piece and swung it over his head, where it got stuck on his neck. It was also on both wrists.
I didn't have to give much of a lecture, but through my giggling I pointed out that we chew our gum, not play with it. I do wish Jeff would have been here to take a picture as I buttered down the little monkey to get the gum out. He seemed to be loving the butter and gum combo as he licked himself clean.
P.S. Hannah received a package in the mail containing 50 new markers! Pray for me!

I have to admit I was holding my breath when I saw the title of your post. It did not disappoint!

I swear...2nd children get in the most trouble, but they do make for great stories! (I can say that because I wasn't the one cleaning up the floor 6 times! ;0)

Thanks for sharing!

Even though I know it isn't the case, I am starting to think there has to be some genetic link between this child and my little one. They could be twins. I love the posts, it helps me remember I am not alone when I am scraping play doh out of the carpet.
