A Child's Prayer

Tonight we were saying prayers, my mom was helping Hannah, & Hannah was repeating everything. Right after the "Bless my mom, because she's a good mom." Hannah decided to take over from there...

"She's a good mom. Bless her to do tricks & hand stands, & juggle. Bless dad, because he does good head stands & juggles balls."

I sadly don't remember much after that, it was all I could do to keep my laugh silent. I sure love that girl!

I Need Another Timer

I have a little digital timer (similar to the one above) I bought a year or more ago to be our "time out" timer. It is magnetic & I put it up on the doorbell in the hallway, which is near the "time out" corner, it is always set & ready to go.

I came across this post & LOVED the idea behind it, & I want to implement the same thing in my home/life. I think it would be a nice balance to have a positive timer to go with our "time out" timer. It would be such a great way to help me through those hard days & to strive to keep perspective.

Letters to Mr. Taylor: Tired Tuesday

Mr. Taylor,
The backyard camp out was a bust, there was no sleeping outside... just 2 little ones & one Mimaw getting to bed much later than usual. The results were lots of tired people today.

My mom took the day off, but because of our weary state of mind, we didn't go anywhere. The good thing is that we all got a nap, & Hannah got in nearly a 4 hour, much needed, nap. Hannah did love going outside this morning & this evening to draw on the driveway with chalk.
We miss you! Keep up the studying, even though you feel like your brain is mush, I know you can do this!
Love,
Meg

Cousins

We are loving our cousins! It's so fun to let the kids play together, despite the fact that Hannah & Isaac act like siblings. They know how to push eachother's buttons, they really do enjoy playing the marjority of the time.

Letters to Mr. Taylor: Mondays with Mona

Mr. Taylor
Another early morning wake-up allowed for another morning run, this one was concluded with a trip to the park for Hannah... in her nightgown, which she thought was fun! On our way back, she asked if there were friends who were girls, because she wanted to play with a girl today. We had our breakfast & once it was a later hour I called Kendall to see if she was up to bringing Mona & Sonny over to play.
The girl's had a great time! They ran through the sprinklers, played Barbie's, made a few messes, but did a great job playing make believe alone in the corner. I love the imagination of a child!! Milo was is easy going self & entertained himself on the floor with some towels & a plastic cup while Sonny took a nice long nap. It was so fun to sit & visit with Kendall all afternoon.
Tonight Mimaw is planning a cam pout in the backyard with Hannah & Isaac... I am interested to see how that goes. They are all excited for their fun night. I hate to leave you hanging like this, but I'll have to let you in on the outcome tomorrow.
Love,
Megs

Letters to Mr. Taylor: Standard Sunday

Mr. Taylor,
Hannah got up a little after 6:00, & she could have used a little more sleep. Her poor eyes were sportin' some serious bags. I won't let her skip her nap today. Before everyone else got up, we played a wicked game of Operation.
I was missing the 8:30 church today, the 11:00 block is so hard with kids. By the time we get home & grab some lunch they go down late for a naps.
We missed you for Sunday dinner! It was fun to be here for Sunday dinner. Despite the fact that I enjoy our Sunday routine, I do miss these at times. .. or perhaps it was the fact that someone else planned & prepared the menu!
I hope you were able to find something to eat that wasn't cold cereal or a sandwich! Enjoy your day off of bar prep, & recharge for long week of studying.
Hannah loved talking to you tonight. She even allowed me to take a picture.
Love Ya,

Megan

Letters to Mr. Taylor: Slow Saturday

Mr. Taylor,

Today was a low key, simple Saturday. The lack of sleep is catching up with all of us! Mimaw made the yummiest Belgian waffles (why didn't I buy that new waffle iron?!) Harmony came over later & we headed to the mall....

it was a brave move considering the approaching nap time, but it was fine (if only Milo would learn to just close his eyes & give in to his exhaustion.) Hannah was such a good sport going through all the stores we needed, she knew she was going to go ride the carousel & was very anxious.
Tonight the Lloyd's came over & Trav took Hannah & Isaac out to play in the sprinklers. I was at the store, so I missed out on even watching. Both the kids were down for the count by 7:00. I spent the remainder of the evening making the outrageous brownies my mom requested.... there may or may not have been an error made in making these brownies... and they may or may not have overflown in the oven & stunk the house up like burned chocolate (not appetizing!) Even the the error DID occur there is no way it would have changed the volume of the batter, so it wouldn't be the cause IF they decided to overflow.
I am off to bed, having a queen to myself is very lonely, compared to our shared full size bed.

Love,
megan

All safe...so far

FYI, my parents' home appears to be safe for the time being. Here's a map you can view to see how close the fires got. We live on Stearns Road. As of 4 p.m., the fire officials have lifted the evacuations for the area. The family can go home, but they're supposed to "remain vigilant." Hopefully things will continue to be well. Here's a picture to give you an idea of how bad it was.

A plague on the earth

I didn't know that when the Bible talks of plagues and pestilences, its authors spoke of this kind of thing.

Letters to Mr. Taylor: Friday Fun

Mr. Taylor,
I am in love with these cool mornings, I think the kids like them so much they want to enjoy more hours each morning. I'm not so keen on the 5 AM wake-ups, but the early morning run was very nice. After we sat out on the deck to enjoy it with the the lovely mountains to eat our breakfast... you'll never guess what we ate... yep, & it was delicious!

During breakfast Hannah informed me that she was a zookeeper, & we had work to do. She didn't like me sharing my breakfast with the zoo animals, Milo was the chimpanzee. We played outside feeding the animals of the zoo in my mom's backyard. It's a small zoo... flamingos (who are in need of a bath) & a chimpanzee (my personal favorite!). The neighbors have Gorillas, but we weren't able to see them this morning. Between the zoo & Milo enjoying the return air vents in the hallway, it was a morning of easy entertainment!

After Milo's AM nap we headed to the park, & had a great time racing down slides (sorry no pics, Milo hasn't learned to use the camera yet.) After breaking a sweat we headed over to the local strip mall to get some lunch. There is a little Italian Gelato/Bakery place that I've heard is fab, but before we got that far, we passed a large greasy burger chain & Hannah said she wanted to go there for lunch. I decided to accommodate her request, & despite how greasy the food & dining area were, my lunch dates were enjoyable!

It's Friday you know, so you'll never guess where we went for dinner! Your favorite place! It included all the great things... great company, a great mariachi band, & a great burrito...
