Hannahisms

I love Hannah at age 2 & all of the fun things that come along with it!

She is very into pretend play & to show me all her faces, she has a mad face, a scared face, a sad face (which comes with a pathetic cry), a happy face (I love this one even though it looks more like a child with a terrible under bite.), a sleep face (complete with a yawn or two.) This last week she also showed me that she knows how to make funny faces involving her finger & her tongue. She looks very serious while making this face, but laughs & laughs once she is finished.

Hannah loves to pretend that all of us are characters from her favorite shows. One that we play a lot is Clifford the big red dog, but she is never Clifford, that is usually Dad's role. She is either Emily-Elizabeth (Clifford's child owner) or another female dog from the show (Cleo). But playing Clifford involves crawling around like a dog & is complete with a game of fetch. She loves to be the dog & fetch her toy more than she likes to throw it. But anyone that knows Hannah, knows she has a bit of a bossy side, so there are times she throws the toys & yells "GO GET IT!" pointing towards the object. It's very hard to keep a serious face while doing this.
Hannah also loves to get all dressed up, most of her dress-ups are girly princess things, but just this morning she was in her Woody costume. She also likes to dress Jeff & I up in things so we can all dance around the house. Jeff is such a good sport, because for some reason she finds more joy putting all the girly things on him than me. But as the dad of a daughter, what choice does he have? If you don't have a daughter perhaps you'd think he has a lot of choice, but he doesn't. Just last week some friends of ours had a baby girl & Jeff insisted that we go buy a princess set to give to the Dad, because Jeff knew what Shawn would be doing in about 2 years. And of course Shawn tried to protest, but we know the truth. The day after we bought & gave this gift I received this video clip that was so perfect. I tried putting it up here, but haven't had any luck.
Hannah is a bit of a home body, which she comes by quite naturally, but sometimes it's a bit frightening how much she likes to stay home. When we are out & about she is always saying: "Mom, let's go home!" I'm thinking it might be an age thing, or then again it might just be a Hannahism.
